Carpet as Art + Mirror Mirror SERIES 1 (tangible / intangible)
우리는 직접적 경험이 가능한 세상과 간접적으로 경험이 가능한 세상(미디어 혹은 타자를 통해 바라본 세상)에 대한 인식을 통해 ‘아는 것’을 만들어 내고, 그것을 바탕으로 상상의 세계 혹은 가상의 세계(intangible)를 만들어 낼 수 있다.
House of Collections(HoC)는 개인 또는 그룹이 직접 경험해 본 공간과 매체를 통해 접했던 가보고 싶은 세 장소(사막, 가든, 우주), 즉 도달할 수 있는 곳과 도달할 수 없는 곳의 복합적인 상상 속 이미지(intangible)를 Carpet(tangible)과 Mirror(tangible)라는 매개체 위에 표현하였다. Intangible한 세계를 표현한 카페트는 사용자들에게 촉각적인 경험을 유도, 그것의 스케일은 일상공간의 분 위기를 상상의 세계로 전환하는 역할을 한다. 거울 역시 내가 속한 일상을 반영함과 동시 에 상상의 세계의 경험을 유도할 수 있다는 점에서 재료로 사용하였다. 설치 작업은 스페이스 디자인 스튜디오 IndieSalon과 미디어 아티스트 그룹 LOVOT LAB, 그리고 Benjamin Moore Paints와 함께 진행하였다.
장소(사막, 가든, 우주)의 선택은 “아는것”의 극적인 대비를 표현하기 위함이다. 경험을 통해 아는것 그리고 아는 정도의 막연함을 이미지에 표현하였다.  예를 들면, HoC는 경험해 보지 못한 사막의 이미지인 물과 흙, 하늘, 식물을 기하학적으로 표현하거나 사막의 요소를 상상의 꼴라주로 표현하였다.  가든은 각자의 직간접 경험을 통해 만들어진 서로 다른 상상으로 생동감있고 다채운 가든의 모습을 섬세하게 묘사하였다.  우주 역시 간접적인 경험을 통해 인식하는 요소들로 표현하였다. 우주의 별자리, 행성과 별의 발광, 그리고 그것을 둘러싼 물질들의 신비로움을 울(wool)을 카페트와 거울 위에 표현하였다.  또한, 차원의 기본인 점, 선, 면으로 이루어진 기하학 적 구조를 통해 무한한 우주 공간의 모습을 표현하고자 하였다.

We can create an imaginary world(intangible) with our imagination or knowledge of “what we know,” which is all based on personal experiences or information accumulated from other sources such as stories from friends or the media.
House of Collections(HoC) choose three places that we have also visited or had dreamt of visiting, “Desert, Garden, and Space”. We then cumulated related images based on our knowledge of the places and our imagination(intangible) and then brought those images onto Carpets(tangible) and Mirrors(tangible). 
Carpets embroidered with intangible worlds allow people to actually feel and step into another space. Mirrors reflect the real world and simultaneously pull people to the imaginary world drawn by HoC.
The selection of desert, garden, and space was to express the contrast of knowledge obtained from experience and the ambiguity of what we deem to know. For example, Desert related pieces are embellished with geometric shapes of water, sand, sky, and plants to express the ambiguity of our image of the desert, a foreign place we have not yet visited.  The garden is expressed with very delicate, lively shapes and brilliant colors based on personal experiences and imagination. The galaxy has also been recreated into wool carpets and mirrors with elements such a constellations, illuminating stars and planets, and surrounding substances that we recognize from our indirect knowledge of space. Also geometric structures made of the basic elements of dimension: points, lines, and flat areas, were used to show the infinite space of the universe.
